We enjoy over 320 days of sunshine per year throughout Nayarit, Mexico, with temperatures averaging 82° F (28° C). Because we are surrounded by the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range on the east, we have a sub-tropical climate with basically two seasons:
- Dry Season runs from November to May when daytime temps are 78-85° F (25-29° C), cooling to around 55-65° F (13-18° C) at night during the winter months.
- Rainy/Hurricane Season runs from June to October, bringing tropical rains and temperatures in the 90°s F with very high humidity. The hottest months are August and September. During Rainy Season, we get can anywhere from 5-14 inches (13-35 centimeters) of rain per day. The rains bring lush green hillsides and an abundance of fresh seasonal fruits. Travelers should be aware that Hurricane season also runs from June to October (and sometimes into November), although most storms occur between August and October. If you decide to travel during this time, monitor our local weather here on this page as well as the National Hurricane Center website below.
