Project Angelina

Angelina is a young lady, who is 29 years old. She was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. She had an operation when she was 12 years old. After the operation she was paralyzed. Angelina spends many days every week sitting in her wheel chair, on the main street of La Penita with a basket on her lap. When someone drops a coin into her basket, the person receives a big smile of thanks.

She shares her home with 8 family members, including 4 small children. I think it is the worst shack in town. It sits on a hill, the walls are made of tar paper and sticks, mud floor, and the roof is corrugated metal sheets. Much of the house was washed down the hill during the rainy season this past year.

We would like to build 4 brick walls and a cement floor. This can be done for approximately $5,000 dollars. If we get more funds then we would like to be able to add windows, doors and proper indoor plumbing.

If you think this is something you could help us with, it would much appreciated. Before we go home to BC, we would like to make a difference in the lives of this one family.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you would like to help with this, please email us at and we will tell you how this can be done. Hala at Hamaca Maya in La Penita has also offered to help us collect money for this project.

With His Love,
George and Donna
