‘Tis the season to be merry, and merry we were on Sunday night, December 14 at El Gigio Italian Pizzeria on the La Peñita plaza. Guests really enjoyed the Cena di Natale, a traditional Italian Christmas Dinner prepared by Gigio, using family recipes passed down for many generations. Gigio went above and beyond his normal high quality to produce this truly unique offering.

The event was quite popular with tickets sold out early. Proceeds from the dinner, silent auction and donations for the bell decorations amounted to $13,633 pesos. With $3400 pesos needed to sponsor 1 CONALEP student for an academic year in the Los Amigos de Jaltemba Scholarship Program, four (yes, 4!!!!) students will be able to continue their education and develop leadership skills as a result.

Many people helped make the event successful: Rick Helberg (Re/Max Jaltemba Realty), Jeanie Mintzmyer (Hidden Paradise Real Estate); the CONALEP students who helped with food preparation, set up, hospitality and food service; Joyce Vanderstaak, Beth Predy, Adan Gonzales Cuevas and of course Gigio, Marie and all their staff. Thanks to all of you.

Remember: Donations of craft and school supplies can be made to our Christmas Stocking Campaign at El Rodeo in Rincón de Guayabitos, or Armando’s Joyas, Chasite Coffee House, Avanti, or El Gigio Italian Pizzeria in La Peñita until Friday, December 19. Items will be given to the Community Cultural Centre to support their many programs for young and old alike. No gift is too small and of course pesos are always appreciated.

Our next event, a Mediaeval Feast is Wednesday, January 14 at El Rodeo. Be sure to mark that date on your calendar.

We want to wish you and your families the very best of the holiday season, and sincerely thank you for all the support you have given to our events. Without you, nothing would be achieved.
