In response to Lacy Brunetti’s recent article, “Jaltemba Bay Animal Rescue Needs YOUR Help,” I think we should have a big PARTY FOR THE DOGGIES at Thomas Bartlett’s Hacienda!!!

Bring your dog on a lead and let’s have some fun and food and make a little… LOT of money to keep the Jaltemba Bay Animal Rescue (JBAR) GOING!

For those of you who don’t have a dog, please join us for this fun event anyway.

Who will help me? I will SPONSOR it.

There will be games to play… for a small fee! Photos taken… for a small fee. DOGS CAN PLAY IN THE FOUNTAIN… for a small fee! Get my drift?

We need your support. $100 pesos will get you and your dog in the door… along with A TACO AND A BEER!!! A bag of cat food from Costco will get you in and 2 tacos and 2 beers!!! A big bag of Canine Club dog food from Costco will get you in and 3 tacos and 3 beers!!! What fun! The dogs will love it… please bring plastic poop bags!!!!!!!!! ; )

If you don’t have a Costco membership or can’t get there between now and then, a monetary donation equal to the cost of the pet food will get you the same deals ($280 pesos for a bag of Canine Club dog food / $265 pesos for a bag of cat food).

And if you bring a case of cold Pacifico for the cooler, you will get you in for a taco and 2 beers!!!

Plus, dress your pooch up for our BEST DRESSED DOG CONTEST! $50 pesos to enter… winner gets a beer and a taco!

I want to get at least 100+ people and doggies!

Please email me via the comment form below and let me know if you will help support this event!

And if anyone wants to help, come by the Hacienda at 1pm on Thursday, December 6… bring your ideas and thoughts for a fun day… maybe one hour to organize!

JBAR “Paws for the Cause”

“If you save one dog… you won’t save the world… But to that one dog… It’s world is changed forever.”

About the Author: Sarah J. Walker grew up on a farm in the central part of Ohio. Seldom in her life was she without the companionship of a cat or dog, or both. At present, her loyal guardians are a rescued Labrador, rescued Chiwiennie, 4 Chihuahuas and a rescued kitten, 7 in total…. plus all the street fosters in nursing care and recovery waiting to be adopted into forever homes. In the 9 years she has lived in La Peñita, Mexico, Sarah has witnessed firsthand what love and care (often medical), can do to save the life of an abandoned, sick cat or dog. “To me, these animals can give the purest form of innocent love anyone can ever receive. But it does not come to you without your act of kindness.” Sarah enjoys sharing her animal rescue stories and is a dedicated JBAR volunteer.

As a vegetarian, I’d like to request that maybe some tacos could be beans and cheese? while I’m not coming to gobble, i still don’t want to go hungry.

Marian, what a great idea! I would love your help at doing that! Please come on Thursday the 6th and we can discuss it! Thomas just called and said he wished he could be here and hopes we make lots for these doggies and kitties! He has already donated big time!

Another idea (you’re gonna hate me!) but maybe not enough time this time around… because Tex panics when he hears fireworks, we bought him a “thunder shirt,” which apparently is like swaddling an infant and its gentle pressure on the torso is known to have a calming effect. If some of our sewers wanted to use our thunder shirt as a pattern and make and sell more of these shirts, I think they’d be very popular in a country riddled with sad pups and lots of fireworks. No I don’t sew.

Sarah have another one when we are down there. Lil Buddy and I will miss this one. I will donate a bag of dog food when I arrive.

I could pre-cook and season the beans; maybe someone else could prepare some grated cheese; then all that needs doing is to keep it warm (I have a crockpot) and spoon them on the tacos instead of the other filling.
