JBAR April 2013 Spay and Neuter Clinic was a Great Success!

Jaltemba Bay Animal Rescue (JBAR) just wrapped up another great Spay and Neuter Clinic, held April 10-13 at Sue and Del Moss’ Hacienda del Mar in Rincón de Guayabitos. A total of 226 animals were registered, with 208 being sterilized. The total number of adopted animals hit 10 (6 cats and 4 dogs), so many families and animals will be getting to know each other over the next days and weeks.

Dr. Malcolm Macartney of McKenzie Veterinary Services, and Dr. Carolyn Buxton and Dr. Carmen Carter of South Burnaby Veterinary Clinic also provided some great talent to help bring in these great numbers. We were able to perform more dental surgeries with the work of tech Karin (shown here) and our local dentist Dra. Adriana Flores. La Peñita’s local vet medicos Dr. Aldo Barba and Dr. Daniel Cuevas also took part as their busy schedules allowed. Backing up this talented team was the PEACE Mexico group and many JBAR volunteers.

Mark your calendars! As rumour has it, we are trying to book the Fall 2013 JBAR Spay and Neuter Clinic for November 13-16, 2013, again at the luxurious Hacienda del Mar.

Thanks to all for the posts on the La Penita Spay Neuter Clinic. Just an Editorial Note re bringing tick and flea meds through Mexican customs. The Mexi-Can Vet team had roughly $700 worth of tick and flea meds CONFISCATED to the PVR Airport Customs. At this time, we are NOT ALLOWED to bring such into Mexico. I know many other people with pets experienced the same problem this season.

This was a wonderful clinic! Thank you to all the Vets, Vet tech. And volunteers! A special thank you goes to Cinnamon and Jessica as they brought so many supplies down from Canada that is so badly needed. Malcolm and team the same! How wonderful of all of you. Thank You. Any of you returning in the fall, if you can bring kennels, vet supplies flea and tick treatments for JBAR. IT WOULD BE SO WONDERFUL! Thanks, Lin, Sue and Del.

This was our first year volunteering at the clinic, but it will definitely not be our last. We met some amazing people and the work, although it can be very tiring, is totally worth the effort.
