Hi, this is Taco the Dog. My Mom told me I had to write something because we’re in the Dog Days of Summer. I’m not sure what that means, but I’m really excited to introduce myself and tell you about my summer.

In case we haven’t met, my name is Señor Taco el Valiente (which means Sir Taco the Brave), but everyone calls me Taco – except my Mom who calls me “Taco Chile Chihuahua Xoloitzcuintle Rottweiler.” She says those are all my breeds, but no one really knows for sure. I’m 2½ years old and I was rescued from the Spay & Neuter Clinic in Guayabitos, Mexico (that’s why my new parents added the name Valiente. With a name like that, maybe I could be a Chihuahua Warrior some day!?).

I am having a great summer so far. I love spending time in Minnesota because the furniture is soooo comfortable, I get to snuggle with my aunts and uncles, and I get to go for lots of rides in my Mom’s Jeep. It’s been really hot here the last few weeks, so my Mom and Dad have kept the door to the deck closed and the air conditioning on. When the door is shut I can’t go outside and lay in the sunshine, which is my favorite thing to do – well that, and playdates with all my doggy neighbors. Oh my gosh I almost forgot to tell you, I discovered bunnies the other day. Boy are they fun to chase (just like the iguanas in Mexico). It’s kind of frustrating that my parents won’t let me off my leash so I can play with them. My Mom always tells me to focus on the task at hand, but it’s really hard.

This morning, I was sitting on the deck enjoying the breeze and sunshine, and minding my own business when a doggy friend walked by below. I tried to watch her (captured in the photo above), but my Mom kept calling my name to distract me and keep me from barking hello.

Luckily, we’ll be back in Mexico soon where there is no door between me and the sunshine, and I can chase the iguanas around our pool whenever I want… without a leash.

I hope you are enjoying your summer too. Ruff!
