We are on our way home to Langley BC. When we left, Jose and his crew had the foundation completed and were starting the walls. No cement walls poured in Mexico. They used 5,000 bricks and blocks for this small house. Since the house is on a hill, all the bricks were carried up the hill to the house, 4 or 5 bricks at a time (see below).
Our first goal was to raise $5,000, for basic walls and a cement floor. Because of all your generosity, we have raised just over $20,000. This means we can give the family a simple Mexican home with indoor plumbing, in house bathroom and electricity. When all is done, we are hoping to give the family beds and mattresses.
Bob Gill from Fort MacMurray and I plan to be there for the finish in late May.
One more quote, that my mother wrote over 40 years ago… “We as people seem to love things and use people, when we should use things and love people.”
Thanks to all who are making this project possible.
