Rob’s Ramblings: Pocket Beach near Boca de Tomatlan

This is a nice day trip just south of Puerta Vallarta. The trail goes from Boca de Tomatlan to Quimixto. It is a spectacular hike, but best done NOT on a Sunday as parking can be tight in Boca de Tomatlan. Midway is a lovely pocket beach, great for a swim. The hike takes about 60-90 minutes one way and ends at Playa Las Animas where there are numerous (rather overpriced) marisco restaurants. The restauranteurs will organize a panga to take you back to Boca which is what we did, in the dark, with 6 dogs! Or one could easily hike back. We would like to do this hike again midweek, pack a nice lunch and spend more time at the pocket beach.

Watch for a story about this hike in the next issue of our newsletter.
