Last week, the Governor of Nayarit was in Rincón de Guayabitos to proclaim that a combination of federal, state and municipal funds, totaling $30 million pesos, has been earmarked for the upgrading of the municipal water and sewer systems in Guayabitos.
First on the agenda is to upgrade the treatment plant and carcamos (pump stations), and then replace old and deteriorating piping within the town. The water supply system is supposed to be upgraded at the same time.
This project is expected to begin within 10 days, so keep your eyes peeled as progress engulfs Guayabitos. Testing of the entire system and inspection of manholes has already been started.
According to the Secretary of Public Works, the first stage of the comprehensive Guayabitos plan, not only includes the reconstruction of the water treatment plant, but also the construction of the Malecón in La Peñita and other projects around the state. The total investment is $180 million pesos. To read a recent article in Spanish, click here.
