The theme of the 12th Annual Mujeres a Mujeres (Women to Women) Fashion Show is a tribute to Mexican culture. The Planning Committee is excited to announce an exhibit by the up-and-coming young designer, Russell Medina Barba. Russell’s style is described as a couture update of Mexican traditional garments. Russell is noted for originality, good taste and careful color selection for each individual outfit he creates. All of his garments are designed with care and personalized attention for each one. When Russell is not working, he likes to travel. A cause dear to his heart is helping those people in the Santa Barbara rehab clinic, assisting people who have been accident victims, or who are challenged by birth defects.
The designers are pictured in the order they are mentioned.
Another new Jaltemba Bay design source is Merybet’s. The owners, Mercedes and Humberto Zaragosa, are thrilled to participate. Their Guayabitos clothing store, Mexican Lindo, carries high quality, classic style Mexican clothing for women, men and children. In fact, this store is the exclusive distributor in our area of Mexico to carry the design labels of “Manta del Lago,” “Tarami” and “D’ Carlos!” The store carries a wide range of sizes from small to 5X, so everyone is sure to find something they like that fits.
Isabel Moreno is La Penita’s favorite special occasion dress designer. Known for her gorgeous traditional Mexican holiday gowns that are custom designed. “I enjoy matching beautiful textures and fabrics to each individual woman. The design is selected to suit the occasion and the client’s personality.” In addition to her design shop, Isabel teaches adult education sewing classes at the Community Cultural Center in La Peñita. Completion of her course entitles the student to obtain a sewing business license.

Rounding off the showcase of designers is Ruth Suarez Designs. She has shifted her artistic endeavors from making ladies clothing to specializing in leather handbags. Ruth creates original, quality women’s leather products. Status in Jaltemba Bay is defined by owning a Ruthco purse! Ruth also sews custom home décor: drapes, bed covering and throw pillows.
