Helma, Maxine and Nora had such a great time last season working, laughing, eating and yes even drinking with so many of you to raise funds for worthwhile endeavours that we have decided to go ahead with further events this season. Complete details will be issued as they become firm.
November 14 – Kick Off the Season Dinner Party – with a Silent Auction and just maybe a guest personality. Funds raised will go to Los Amigos de Jaltemba to support the Community Cultural Centre.
December 5 – Christmas Stocking Campaign – with wine and appys at Xaltemba Restaurant. Huge stockings will be hung in various establishments in the area just waiting to be filled with donations of school supplies or pesos. If you have room to bring down supplies that is wonderful; however, you can buy locally and support our merchants. Cash donations will be used for educational supplies or projects.
January 9 – Pizza and Pasta on the Plaza – The Telpochcalli Dancers, part of the Youth Group will be performing for us that night. Their dancing is unbelievable. If you were at Fiesta 2012 you will remember the energy and joy they brought to all of us. The Youth Group is now part of Los Amigos de Jaltemba.
February 13 – Fascinator Afternoon Tea – Join us for tea and goodies. Let your imaginations run wild and make yourself a fascinator hat to wear to the tea. (Money raised will be given to Los Amigos for their Scholarship Fund.)
March 8 – International Women’s Day Luncheon – Join us to celebrate this day by having lunch with our Mexican lady friends and neighbours and you may want to treat your cleaning lady, favourite restaurant server, store clerk to lunch. Funds raised from this event will go to Cancer de Mama.
About Las Tres Amigas: We are three women, who one day sat discussing fundraising and how the community needed an afternoon event when Fiesta 2012 at the Bartlett residence was no longer being offered. Two of us had already thought of an afternoon tea and we were off to the races as they say. We have all been involved in our respective communities and have the philosophy of giving back to where you live.
The Tea was a rewarding event with wonderful music, laughter, food, views and pesos for three scholarships being raised. We were dubbed “Las Tres Amigas” by a friend and now we have added the lady bug to further identify us. The Surf and Turf dinner raised enough pesos for five scholarships. People never cease to amaze us with their generosity and their giving back to our communities.
This year we are organizing five events that we hope provide something for everyone. We would be delighted to have offers of volunteers for any of the events you find particularly enticing. Our contact e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org
