KinderAide has Far-Reaching Benefits throughout the Jaltemba Bay Community

I truly enjoyed meeting you and the morning I spent with you at the preschool. It has taken me these past few days to process my thoughts and feelings regarding my experience.

I commend you and the KindeAide team for the wonderful work you have done to create and support the preschools. During my visit I could also see that there are still needs to be met, such as infrastructure projects and the ongoing replenishment of school supplies. I feel fortunate to have witnessed the eagerness of the students to learn English during the spirited lessons that you presented – such joy in their voices while singing “If You’re Happy and You Know It.” When I was assisting a table of students with their colouring sheets, they were keen to show me that they knew the English words for colours and body parts.

While I was waiting for you to arrive, I had an interesting conversation with one of the students’ dads. He told me in his limited English (and I had to use my translation book for my limited Spanish) that his daughter shared her English words with him and his wife. He was so proud to show me that he knew the English words for the numbers on a sign that was posted on the school fence. He told me that he understands the importance of being able to speak English, not only for his daughter but for him and his wife too. So you see the impact of your work has far-reaching ripples in the community.

I wish that I had more time to get to know you better and to spend with your organization. I wish you luck with your fundraiser on Sunday and hope to be able to organize some fundraising activities when I get home in April.

Thanks again for allowing me this volunteer opportunity.
