Arrested in Tepic

Hola Allyson,

I hopped the Pacifico bus to Tepic, approximately a 2 hour ride through the mountains into Tepic Bus Depot, followed by a taxi ride into Tepic centro, which took about 10 minutes.

We toured the major sites in town, art gallery, famous poet’s house, town square, etc. In the Craft building, I bought some gorgeous scarves with filigree type hearts on them. Gorgeous, only bought 3, darn, why didn’t I buy more! Only $10 pesos and will make excellent gifts when I return home.

My good young man above is a “motorcycle Policia.” He looks like Darth Vader doesn’t he! Very obliging to have his pic taken, even got an arm around me.

I sent this pic back to Pender Island, B.C. Canada, saying “Help, Arrested in Tepic” Send $$$$.

We are staying in Guayabitos for 2 1/2 months, not long enough.

Cheers,
Carole Sheaves

my wife have taken buses all over mexico….never felt fear….very comfortable, enjoyable, and safe…..so many people have heard stories about getting robbed, or felt fear…..but its very safe…..stop with the worries….the people of Mexico are very caring and warm hearted….there is more danger in Canada than there is in Mexico….just be smart!!!

We have taken the bus trip there and had a WONDERFUL TIME.. never have felt unsafe at all. I would encourage you to try it.. and experience it.. We did.. and will do it again, and again.

I was told it was unsafe to hop a bus to Tepic. I met a lady who told me it was a great place to visit, but later on, people said it wasn't safe. Reading Carole's letter makes me want to try again when i return in December. Joan Schaeffer La Conner, Washington
