The Guayabitos Tennis Club hosted its 2014 tennis tournament in three days of hot action under the searing February Mexico sun.
A total of 48 players squared off, 16 players in the men’s “A” division, 16 in the “B” division and 16 in the women’s.
The women’s “A” final winners were Tracy Schlegel and Annie Scholton, defeating Helen Glennie and Inge Schricker. In the “B” finals Dana Day and Mindy Campbell emerged victorious over Donna Arsenault and Carol Woolsey. The women’s competition was held Monday, February 10.
In the men’s “A” championship match on Friday, February 7, Luis Martinez and Desi Desrochers triumphed over Maurice Loeub and Craig Hoge. The “B” final played out on Tuesday February 4, and Paul Mutch and Michel Talbot defeated Murray Follet and Ron MacKereth.
Maurice Loeub and Lori Gillard were the tournament coordinators.
The Guayabitos Tennis Club facilities are maintained by fees from players. It is considered to be one of the more affordable places to play tennis in Jaltemba Bay and the surrounding area. Year-round and shorter term memberships are available and are enjoyed by residents and tourists alike.
